Cancer Insurance Plans

The goal of Cancer Insurance is to protect individuals and their families not from the damage that cancer can cause physically, but the financial burden that accompanies a diagnosis.

Cancer plans are supplemental to medical or other health insurance plans and are independent of any other critical illness plan.  The policy is designed to pay the proceeds direct to the policy holder if they are diagnosed or treated for cancer.  Most plans are indemnity which will pay a set fee based on the service provided in the treatment of cancer.  The policy pays cash benefits to the policy holder, not to the doctor or facility.  The benefit can be utilized to help off set costs associated with the employee cost of the treatment, fees associated with travel, mortgage or any other expense.

Today, millions of individuals and families are still battling cancer, but the fight has changed in many ways. Advances in pharmaceuticals, surgical procedures, and alternative treatments have improved the odds for those diagnosed with the disease. But with improved treatments, increased costs have arrived as well. Cancer Insurance policy’s addresses these concerns with benefits that reflect the new directions in which America’s battle against cancer will be helpful.

In the U.S, men have slightly less than a 1-in-2 lifetime risk of developing cancer; for women the risk is a little more than 1-in-3. (American Cancer Society Facts & Figures, 2003)

In 2007 there were an expected 1,444,920 new cancer cases. There were an estimated 10,400 new cases to occur among children ages 0-14. (American Cancer Society Facts & Figures, 2007)

Cancer may not be preventable, but you can protect yourself from some of the cost with Cancer Insurance.
